An exhibition of giant letterpress community murals in Salts Mill's roof space, alongside related prints and photography, & FREE letterpress pop-up workshop (4-6 May only), as part of Saltaire Arts Trail 2024.
The Shipley-based People Powered Press presents a collection of murals co-created with community groups from across the district of Bradford.
Inspired by poetry created by participants, hand-printed on the largest letterpress printing press of its kind in the world, and pasted up using traditional methods, they represent the Press’ aim to “amplify local voices and spread words worth spreading.”
Some of these pieces were originally exhibited in 2022-2023 in Bradford City Park, outside Temple Newsam House and in Salts Mill, and have been recreated for Saltaire Arts Trail 2024. They are exhibited alongside two brand new works created in collaboration with groups from Saltaire and Shipley.
Also featured is a pop-up letterpress printing workshop, where you can hand-make your own prints to take away with you, and an exhibition of photography of all the Press’ major installations since 2022.
