We’re throwing open the doors for two days, and inviting everyone in to have a go on the record-holding People Powered Press.

Please feel free just to rock up for pizza in the garden workshop, but to make a print, you’ll need to book yourself a 15-minute slot (see above) for you and up to three family members or friends.

PLENTY OF PRINTING SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE ON SUNDAY - PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE LIST TO FIND YOURS!

By sheer fluke, the press has been recognised by Guinness as the largest printing press of its type in the world, and we’re using it to say a suitably large THANK YOU to people across the region who have worked tirelessly to support our community during the pandemic.

Join us to make a nice big metre-tall TA print which we’ll then donate to a local hospital, NHS or social care service for public display where  staff will see it and know they’ve not been forgotten.

It's a FREE event, but if you're booking to make a print, please pay as you feel to support the community work of the People Powered Press.

With your help, we’re hoping to make 100 TA prints over the course of the weekend.

Find out from Oli Bentley, who was behind the creation of the People Powered Press, how it came to be built by the mighty JKN Oiltools in Batley, and how it came by its completely accidental world record.

And discover why poet and broadcaster Ian McMillan described using the People Powered Press as “a joyful experience.”

Otherwise, drop in anytime over the weekend, and join us in the garden:

  • Watch the People Powered Press in action
  • Freshly baked pizza from the portable pizza oven of local legends Il Pirata Pizzata
  • Cold drinks and other refreshments for sale
  • Fun poetry games for kids (and their grown-ups) with Poet in Residence Antony Dunn
  • Get your hands on prints, books and other bits and pieces from the People Powered Press
  • Pop-up exhibition of artworks by design studio Split, including These Northern Types

We're really looking forward to meeting you!
